Persona Q2: Cinema Labyrinth makes our favorite JRPG heroes extra cute this fall
It feels like forever since Atlus said anything about Persona Q2, the sequel to 2014’s dungeon-crawler crossover game, Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth. The developer broke the months of silence this weekend, however, releasing an animated teaser trailer that reveals the game’s Japanese release date.
Japanese Persona lovers will be able to dive into the Nintendo 3DS game starting Nov. 29, Atlus announced. There’s no Western release date, but the game’s first trailer transcends the language barrier. Just like Shadow of the Labyrinth, Persona Q2: Cinema Labyrinth stars the leads of Persona 3 and Persona 4, as they mix it up in chibi-style versions of locations from their respective games. This time, however, the Persona 5 heroes will also show up — so we get to see them looking even cuter than ever.
If you’re big into Persona, you’ll want to watch and rewatch the trailer above multiple times. It’s got that trademark stylishness we’ve come to expect from the series; there’s lots and lots of footage of Ryuji and Morgana and the other Persona 5 kids hanging with another newcomer: the female protagonist from Persona 3 Portable. And, of course, there’s a dope theme song, as is the Persona series’ way.
Atlus first announced Persona Q2 for a Japanese release nearly one year ago, in August 2017. That’s all we knew until now, and we’ll have to keep waiting for a Western release date announcement. At least we now have two minutes of new, very cute Persona action.
